A deputy's compensation and resources
Being a deputy comes with an allowance and material resources, funded by the National Assembly — not a salary in the usual sense, but a precise set of rules. Figures as of January 2026.
Monthly allowance
Total gross: €7,637.39 per month

After mandatory deductions (pension, social security, transition support), the net amount is around €5,953 per month. The Assembly's president and questors receive a higher function allowance.

Operating allocation (office, communications, travel)
The deputy is the direct employer of their staff (hiring, firing); the Assembly covers employer contributions separately. Unused credit in a given month rolls over through the term, but can't be redirected to another budget line.

- Unlimited SNCF rail travel, and 80 round-trip flights a year between Paris and their district for mainland deputies.
